Pigadia town

Pigadia located on a scenic bay with a long beach and next to a rocky hill is the capital and main port of Karpathos Island. It’s population is approximately 2,500 inhabitants most of whom are engaged in tourist services. The town has developed in the sector of tourism with new infrastructures, hotels, restaurants and café bars, which attract several tourists and residents of the island. Around the harbor visitors can find restaurants, taverns and cafes/bars. There is also a nice pedestrian boulevard with many shops and vibrant life. It is the starting point for excursions to the remote villages of Karpathos while several organized cosmopolitan beaches are located in the area, such as Ammos and Afoti. Some of the most remarkable sightseeing’s are the ruins of a paleo Christian basilica, the Acropolis of ancient Posidio, the monumental tomb in the cave of Neptune and the small but well preserved museum of the town.
